The PrePARED team are pleased to announce the release of the following outputs.

Report 014: Diel patterns in fish abundance and responses to bait within a commercial wind farm

This report has been released by the University of Exeter following use of unbaited camera systems to investigate the effects of proximity to wind turbines on fish abundance through day-night comparisons.

You can read the report and findings here

Quantifying prey energetic quality: energy density and size-energy relationships for marine fish and cephalopods

Using bomb calorimetry, energy density values were obtained for fish and cephalopod species and length-weight and length-total energy relationships were established.

This article is currently under review by Scientific Reports but is available publicly via preprint here.

Dynamic sandeel maps with uncertainty

The team at BioSS have delivered a data product repository alongside this Output Summary with predictive maps of sandeel occurrence and abundance for 1993-2024. These dynamic predictions reflect statistical uncertainty and account for interannual changes in sandeel stock biomass.

You can read the Output Summary here.

And the data products can be found here.

Webinar: PrePARED Offshore Wind Farm CEAs

Rachael Sinclair of SMRU Consulting will present key findings from PrePARED Report 009 and 013 on offshore wind farm cumulative effects assessments from two case studies:

  • Case Study 1: Including project without an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
  • Case Study 2: EIA vs As Built

This webinar will take place on 7 October at 12:00 – please register for a space here.
